FREE Back to School Gift Tags for Music Class!

I don't know about your classroom, but over here there are NEVER enough pencils in rehearsals. I keep a big pencil case filled with all the pencils that get left behind in class, all the pencils I buy at the Dollar Store, and still, someone is always without one halfway through each band rehearsal. *Sigh*

So, this year, I decided I'd try a different route. I've noticed lots of folks creating Back to School gifts to give their students and I love how such a small gesture can be so welcoming and somehow... well, personal - even though everyone gets the same thing. I made these pencil flags to weave onto each pencil and I'm hoping that they might even stay in the kids' folders. You can get these for FREE right here: click here for the download or find it my TpT shop in the FREEBIES section!

Punch a hole in either side and make a small cut in four directions (like a compass) to allow the pencil to slide through easily. As flags for pencils, you can just print them on regular white paper and be good to go, like this:

My plan is to have each student tape the flags into their folders so they become pencil holders so I needed to print on card stock. If you want to use them this way, you can even laminate the cards for durability.

Are you giving 'Welcome Back' gifts? Leave a comment with your idea or a photo! I'd love to see how your classroom looks this season, too!
