Indigenous Music of Canada Project

"As we were doing research on the Cayuga tribe we realized that there were close to no websites with information about their culture which is incredibly sad and needs to be changed. This entire PowerPoint was made using only 1 website because that is the only resource that provided us with the information needed." -student, grade 8

This project was created after we discovered that few to no resources exist for teachers and students to explore the Indigenous music traditions of Canada. Students dug into research to find  out more and create PowerPoints and accompanying worksheets to share with other schools.

Crucially, while some students belong to the groups being presented, we acknowledge that these stories are not ours to tell - instead, we hope to amplify the voices of those who have the right to tell these stories, and to give other students the vocabulary and tools to learn more. If you are a member of one of the groups presented and see an error or would like to add more information, please contact our teacher using the social media links below.
